Writing Tricks drop in Class
Taught by Middle School Writing Specialist Ms. Kathie— your middle school child will discover the magic behind getting unstuck as they learn one powerful “writer's trick” to spark ideas and make their writing flow. Each day is a different topic, using the same strategy.
$12 session • 45 minutes • Ages 10-13 • Google Meet
What your child will do and learn:
The primary skill your child will learn from this class is how to get started.
Getting started is the most difficult part of writing for most people, including me!
Introduction/Ice Breaker: To help Your Child Feel Welcome and Seen
Mini-lesson: I will Demonstrate the Writing Trick (which is One of My Best Writing Strategies)
Time for Student to Practice the Strategy: Your Child Will Have Time to Try Out the Strategy With Guidance From Me - Your Child Will Be Using Google Classroom, so please Make sure they Can Log into a Google Email account
Writing Time: Your Child Will Have Quiet Writing Time to Put their Thoughts Into Sentences.
Sharing Time: If Your Child Chooses to Do So
Can Be Taken More than Once: If Your Child Would Like Extra Practice With this strategy, I use a Different Topic for Each Scheduled Day.

I’ve spent 29 years teaching middle and high school English and the past four years working with students online.
